Default Product add but no image showing and HTML path wrong

I've looked and looked, but must just be missing this. I'm sure I've come across a post mentioning it before.

When I create a new category/product and upload an image no images show in the catalog side. When I view the properties of the image, the directory path is there, but there is no filename.

example: properties of the picture show http://www.xyz.com/catalog/images/

Why is there no filename at the end of the path?

The image directory and all it's files have permissions set to 777 and I can view them if I type the entire path into the URL. Why don't the file names get referenced when I upload picture through admin?

You cannot have the images already on the server when you add them in the admin. They cannot already be there. osCommerce must grab them from your computer and upload them through the admin.

Also, you must have file uploads enabled in php.ini.

Other than that, I cant think of anything that would cause this...

in php.ini, find the line that says file_uploads and make sure it says Yes. You need server root access in order to do this.

I talked to my host and they said that file uploads are enabled in the php.ini file, so I guess I'm doing something wrong. Thanks, though!

I used the admin page to upload the files, and they were successfully uploaded. My store is running on a unix server and I don't have access to php.ini. However, it does allow my to upload files with oscommerce admin, because they are showing up. The only clue I have found is in the properties of the missing image. There is the correct path but no file name???? Have a look... http://www.acphonecenter.com/catalog/default.php
