Fatal error: Call to unsupported or undefined function sessi

In the 2.1 release, there was an option in catalog/includes/application_top.php like:
define('REPAIR_BROKEN_CART', 1);

I do not see this option in version 2.2 latest which I downloaded today.

Is this variable no longer needed? I am running PHP3 and it does not recognize the function session_name()
