| I downloaded the cart from oscommerce.com, however, can't find the install script that the documentation provides. Apparently, there should be a catalog/install/install.php. Does anyone know where I may be able to download a full version which includes this installation script??? Please advise. |

| Ramon: I just downloaded the script as well and have the same problem. The install files and folders are not available in either the separate or bundled download. I am no expert at osCommerce but I have installed it on a couple of websites with relative ease. Being that working on the web requires meticulous attention to paths, files and folders you have to wonder what kind of dope they are smoking when they add those items to the zip or tarball. | Black Hat, you may want to lay of the doobage yourself I just dowloaded todays snapshot, and the install script is there. Folks, please pay attention to what you are doing. I get no less then 10 messages a day about this, and the reason is ALWAYS that you downloaded the wrong version. If you search the forums you will find several posts about this. Please make sure you download the correct version before posting. I have downloaded the a snapshot once a week for about 6 months, and the install script is ALWAYS there. |

| Before you posted your reply, I did find in the forums that information. It did take a bit of time, but alas found my solution. The situation, though, I believe is created on the oscommerce.com site where the 2.2 version is labeled as something you don't want to try... e.g. "It is not recommended to run, or upgrade, your online store on a snapshot release as it may be broken. You are, however, most welcome to try a snapshot release to see what new features are implemented, and to provide bug reports for any problems you encounter." This is why I didn't download that file which actually did contain the install script. So if a lot of people are having the same problem, I think this is why. |

| Although I have no control over what happens on the OSCommerce website, the disclaimer is there for a reason. They will not be supporting upgrades from 2.2cvs to the full release of 2.2. Although it is easier to install, it is changing from day to day, thus the disclaimer. With that being said, 2.2CVS has been available and "Stable" for over a year or pretty close to it. Next, when reading the docs, you will come across the line that "these instructions only apply to 2.2cvs and 2.2 final." Whether there is a warning at OSCommerce or not, this fact does not change. Now of course, I will cut you some slack here. The world of open souce is a mine field of disasters waiting to happen, especially for the beginner, and I can understand your reluctance to download an "unstable" piece of software. |
