Default Viewing Files

For some reason, on one of our computers, when I go to view or edit a php file out of my ftp client, there are no line breaks and there are little boxes in the code. Any ideas why?

PHP files are associated with some type of Broderbund program on the computer as well.

Here's an example:
Code:
<?php
/*
  osCommerce, Open Source E-Commerce Solutions
  http://www.oscommerce.com

  Copyright (c) 2003 osCommerce

  Released under the GNU General Public License
*/

// Define the webserver and path parameters
// * DIR_FS_* = Filesystem directories (local/physical)
// * DIR_WS_* = Webserver directories (virtual/URL)
well it didn't paste that way!???

Default RE: Viewing Files

Is that better? Use the code /code tags.....

Use a real editor like NoteTab (free) or UltraEdit(cheap-but very good). Right click on ANY .php file select OPEN WITH then "Choose Program" (don't chose another option - even if the program you want to use is listed). Find your perfered editor or use the "Other..." to browse to the program file it and then check "Always use this program to open these files". Click 'OK'.

Next time you double click it will open in your perfered program.

Thanks for the reply. I found out what was wrong. I don't remember what the transfer setting on my ftp client was (I think it was on auto), but when I changed it to ASCII everything reads fine.
