| Hi, I run a site using OS Commerce http://www.kingdomkomputers.co.uk (I am an OS Commerce illiterate so Ash Williams at Seen Online - http://www.seen-online.co.uk - did all the hard work for me - thanks ASH!) Now I have run into a problem which neither of us can solve. I have a slow internet connection so doing any work to the database takes a long time - on average 4 or 5 minutes to add or modify a product. What I am trying to do is setup a dedicated box to use as an offline (local) OS Commerce server. Ash has kindly helped me setup a W98 box running MySQL and Apache - I set this up using PHPTriad and it all works up to a point; I can update a few products - usually about 6 or 8 and then the whole system freezes. If I manually shut down MySQL and Apache and then restart them, I can do more products until it all dies again. I have an Apache directory - as per the default installation of PHP Triad and I do a backup from the live site and restore it to the htdocs directory. All the pointers are set correctly and it all comes up and works fine until it falls over! The box I am using is a Compaq Deskpro, 1GHz P3, 512Mb memory and a 20Gig hard disk, Windows 98 2nd Edition. I am thinking of using another box I have to install Linux (Redhat 7.3) and using that to do what I want but it seems real overkill. I am certain that I am doing something stupid but I can't see what! I have copies of all Windows OS's (W98, 2K XP Pro) and I am fairly good at setting them up. I have tried to get Apache and MtSQL working with XP Pro but can't do it. Does anyone have any ideas of what I might be doing wrong or suggestions as to another of doing what I want to do? Please don’t suggest a faster connection – it simply isn’t possible!! Thanks Tim |

| Before you do anything extreme, I recommend ditching PHPTriad in favor of FoxServ. It is more current, and more stable. I have been using Foxserv on a windows machine (first 98, and now XP - Pro for well over a year, and it works flawlessly. I even host a personal family web site on my home network.) Go to http://www.foxserv.net/portal.php and get the latest copy. It does exactly what phpTriad is supposed to do! If you need any assistance, I would be glad to lend my experinces |

| Hi Michael, I installed apache2triad in combination with windows XP. After installing max1.7 on localhost, I get a complete blank page when opening the admin section. Any suggestions? Thanks. |

| Check the php error logs, it will tell you the file and the line that are causing the error. Comment it out. See this thread: http://oscdox.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-4699.html I bet you ar using the most recent version of apache2triad. This is the problem, as it uses mysql 4.1 + PHP 5 and there are some compatibility issues with osC and mysql 4.1/php 5
