Default Backups dir set, yet the backup function doesnt work

I added the Backups dir under admin as instructed in OSCdox. When i try using the feature, the browser shows the page loading but nothing happens.. Ive waited 10mins and no success. Am i missing more instructions or maybe i have an old snapshot. I installed 2.2 back in January i believe.

Are you trying to create a backup or just load the "backup" page to see what options you have?

If you are unable to create a backup, but can see the backup page, make sure you have either GZIP or ZIP installed, or do not compress the backup. There are radio buttons to set this.

Also, make sure the paths are set correctly in the admin/includes/configure.php. Lastly, make sure the dir permssions are set correctly. CHMOD 664 Should be good enough, but try 775 and 777 to see if any of these work. I dont recommend keeping at 777 though.

Be sure it is "backups" too... Note the little "b".

Hi,

You have to setup backups to 777 otherwise you get this error in admin:
Error: Backup directory is not writeable.
