help with credit card processing

I am just starting my business and have a few questions about credit card processing. Does authorize.net charge the clients credit card right away? I am selling computer hardware so should I just stick with the regular credit card processing (offline), and not authorize.net? Is there any other modules that might encrypt the CC# in the email? I don't want to split the email. Anyone know how much is the monthly fee for authorize.net?

Authorize net - processes cards immediately in realtime. Their fees are variable base on your credit rating, transaction type, amount, and volume. I suggest you contact them for details.

CC encryption : there are several mods that send encrypted email. Check out oscommerce.com in the contributions section under payment modules.
