Default confused abt the install process

Hey everybody,
I just installed OSC 2.2 and doing what OSCdox says word to word I up to now didn't have any problems, but I'm kinda confused though.
in page 16 it says that I should do an install from http://myserver.com/install/install.php !!
why whould I do that as long as I just did install it through
http://myserver.com/catalog/install/install.php
Do I have to copy all the files to the (public_html)folder and install catalog again or is it just that I have to take some more English classes

From page 6:

Quote:
Running the Installation Script
The next step in the installation will create the tables in your MySql database,
install sample data, and configure your Oscommerce cart to match the server
setup. In your browser enter the following url:
http://www.yourserver.com/catalog/install/install.php
Replace ‘yourserver’ with your domain name or ip address. This will start the
Oscommerce installation script. Below, examine the screenshots of the install pages
and the captions. This will break down the entire process, step by step.
So, as you can see, you did it correctly. You are referring to a separate chapter called "Document Root Installation" and this only applies if you want to install oscommerce to your document root.

Thanks for the quick answer dude
I thought though that is was the reason why I can't get to neither the (my account section) nor checkout page nor a lot more and at each time it gives me a 404 error and takes me to

==>http://www.mysite.com/catalog/checko...75913406b0f022.....

==>http://www.mysite.com/catalog/create...75913406b0f022.....
Looking at the online showcase, I saw that all those URLs didn't contain that id(which is the same # in all the tries I gave)
I'm clueless to what the problem might be.
I would really apreciate any kinda help.
