I have got to the last stage of the installation and it says that everything has been successful so far. I am at step 7 and it says: "New Installation osCommerce Configuration The configuration was successful!" There are two buttons - "Catalog" and "administration tool" if I click on either of those buttons I get this message: "Unable to connect to database server!PHP Warning: mysql_connect(): Unknown MySQL Server Host ' 83.142.27.194' (11004) in e:\Domains\myshop.co.uk\wwwroot\catalog\admin\incl udes\functions\database.php on line 19" Any help would be very much appreciated, thanks in advance for your time.

This information may help. I am using dreamweaver mx I think my my root folder is wwwroot everything up to this point went smoothly, all the tests were ok. Perhaps the problem is in connecting to the database server. If so how can I alter the authentification information to connect succesfully without going through the installation from the start each time.

After hours of headache I have realised that there is a space before the IP address ' 83.142.27.194' for my database causing authentication problems. I corrected this in the file configure.php which is in the root/catalog/includes folder. I can now get onto the catalog page but not sure how to go back and test the admin tool. Any help appreciated. Also for anyone else in a similar problem I came across this link in the oscommerce forums which I found relevent and hope it makes someone else's life a little easier. http://forums.oscommerce.com/index.p...133593&hl=

Your Admin tool can be reached by adding /admin to the end of catalog (assuming you left the admin folder named admin. http:www.yoursitename.com/catalog/admin
