Default ssl error with Internet Explorer

We have set up SSL on a shop for a client. When using Netscape and Firefox all works fine, however, when using Internet Explorer, we get a number of errors.

When following a link a file not found error will be returned or the page will take a long time to long. If I move back a page and follow the link again, the page will then load fine. These errors only occur with Internet Explore when SSL is being used.

    Default I don't think it's SSL

I was experiencing the same issue and so I disabled SSL for my site and was still unable to access the page(s) in IE when forwarded to the intial account login_php and subsequently the checkout_shipping.php pages.
I could, however, still access all with Mozilla and Netscape.
and as before I could access all other typically SSL pages such as final checkout, payment options etc. with IE.

It seems like the issue is with the calling of the login, and checkout_shipping pages for IE. I am not a programmer by any stretch of the imagination... but I'll keep looking and post what I find. Plesase post if you have found the solution!

    Good Luck!
