Default upgrading 2.2 >> 2.2ms PLEASE HELP

I've decided that I want to upgrade my site from 2.2 which I downloaded in July to the latest 2.2ms. I would have thought this was easy and there would be lots of instructions but there are not and I can't find any instructions on the forums either.

I have installed the database before using phpMyAdmin, enabled PHP, installed mySQL and everything works fine etc., but how do I upgrade? First, I had erased the install directory under catalog as instructed and I see that this used to have an upgrade file (upgrade.php). So what do I do now?

I have downloaded MS1 and L5-CRE - havn't decided which to one to use yet though.

I know that I could start from scratch, but I have made quite a few design changes and don't want to work on this again.

Please can somebody show the best steps to take - I don't even know if I'm supposed to create a new database using phpMyAdmin or override the existing one?

Thanks in advance.

Rodland,

Has ANYONE pointed you in a direction? I'd like to learn more about the updating process myself.

Thanks,

mac

Well, if you are new to the osCommerce scene, you would have missed the announcement many months ago that basically said there will be no supported upgrade path from 2.2CVS to 2.2MS1.

There is no easy way to do it. If you have modified your cart, you will have to manually update the MS1 version. I have found the easiest way to do this is to do a freshin MS1 install, and start hacking...

The data needs to be manually transferred in most cases, but there are tools to help. Use the excel contribution or one of the other easy product contributions.
