can you get into the mysql database directly with the user name and password?

your user name may not be "root"

on the systems I have set up...none have a user name of "root"

the way mine work... let say for www.xyz.com would be

localhost
xyz
password

I would verify my user name and password ....seems like you are getting stuck there

Yes, I can to get into the mysql database directly with username as 'root' and password.
I used root account to create database, tables ...

but when I try to install osCommerce again, problem still

The error message returned is:

Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client

so you can get into the data base and have created the tables manually by using the sql file...

the site is loaded....

try setting the values in catalog/includes/configure.php and catalog/admin/includes/configure.php for your site and then reupload those files...and see if you can get into your site online

Actually not, I just tried to test if username, password, and mysql setup correctly.
the site isn't loaded yet.

If you know the way to create tables manually by using sql files, please help me out.

under catalog/install on your computer you will find a file with .sql as the ending...this file can set up the tables...i think it is called ms2-max.sql on the version that i am using...

sign into data base... find where you can sql a file into your data base...tell it where the sql is on your computer and sql the file

Default "Client does not support authentication..." soluti

In MySQL Administrator enable the Use Old Passwords option. Delete the MySQL user that has access to the database (for use by osCommerce) and recreate the user. Try running the install again.

HTH.
Best Regards,
Donnie
