Default What PHP-version and what MySQL-version to use!

What PHP-version and what MySQL-version (and php-myadmin) should I use with oscommerce? Is it best to use the newest versions or are there any (older) better?

I am not sure about php5, I have not used it on that version. Other than that, it should work on latest apache, mysql too...
