Default Switching hosting servers

Hello,
I have an osCommerce store which I have downloaded from my hosting company. My store uses a few contributions.

The challenge is I would like to move my web site to a new hosting company. I know my new host will support osCommerce.

I am wondering if there is anything I need to do to my store or anything I should know before I attempt this. I really don't want to re-create my store from scratch. I don't want to lose anything in my MySQL database. I don't think I can simply FTP my osCommerce store to my new host from my hard drive. I think I need to change my setting or do something to make sure the MySQL database doesn't get lost and I can access the store through my same URL/path.

Any information or a suggestion of where I can find such information is quite appreciated.

Thanks.

Backup your website and ftp all files, backup your database and create a new one and re-install it on your new server, go to your admin and catalog config files and change the info. That's how you move...
