Setup Question - Category & Product Images

This is really a setup question. I've got my shopping cart installed and it's working good. But I'm confused about how the formatting and images work....

Can you setup a category with 1 picture, and setup products underneath that categories that do not have pictures??

What I'd like to do is this...

I have a tool database, and I don't have pictures for all my products. I do have pictures for all my categories....

When the user clicks on Saws, I'd like to display the Saw category pic,
and under that, I'd like the user to see list all the saws in that category without any product pictures. Just a list of saws that include part no, decription, size, manufacturer, cost, buy now button.

I'm just not sure how to do this... I don't understand the IMAGES configruation documentation. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!

I have the opposite problem. I do not want a catagory image, only products.

I may have a quicky fix for you. I changed the default value for the image field in the database to pixel_trans.gif . When adding an image, it will insert the image you selected. If you do not upload an image, a transparent image will be displayed in its place (automagically). Hence.... no product image.
