Default CA tax rates

I'm in the middle of an osCommerce 2.2-MS2 implementation and I've run into a major issue with CA tax rates. The state tax table has 1761 entries, one for each city, but there are actually 11 distinct rates.

How does osC handle this? Is there anyone out there who has a store in CA?

Does osC only apply tax by state? Is it possible to apply by zip code? Would I create a separate zone for each zip? Can I load these in an automated fashion, as they are updated quarterly by the state?

Thanks,

Chett

OSC figures out tax by zone. However you setup the zone is how if calulates tax. Yes I have herd of taxing in CA by city and I know there is a few CA stores using OSC out there somewhere. Not sure however whom.

If you want by ZIP code then check out:

County Sales Tax by Zip Code
or
County/Zip Based Sales Tax which seams to take California as example.

Good Luck
