Default Can't login/signup new customer

Hi I've tried to find an answer to this, but it seems no one knows. I can't do a number of things on my site yet, like signing up new customers or logging in. Do I need to change the permissions on any directories or anything like that?

Thanks in advance...

anything more specific than that? I've been messing around for quite a while and I just can't figure it out. I made sure there was a tmp directory and that it was writeable, and then I tried to specify the cookie_domain in the configure file, but nothing has worked...

Well I can finally get to the create_account.php and login.php pages, but only if I type them in manually: the link does not get there. I just need to fiddle around and figure out why it thinks my entire database is somewhere that it's not.

I think it has to do with the fact that while all files in my website can be accessed through the .com/ , this is actually just shorthand for where I really upload my files: .com/var/www/shop/oscommerce/

Thanks anyway, and I'm sure i'll be back if I can't seem to point my links in the right direction.

Yeah so can't seem to figure this out. I'm at shop.justinbianco.com/osc, and I click 'create an account,' which gives me the error message "The requested URL /osc/create_account.php was not found on this server." And yet, I can type in shop.justinbianco.com/osc/create_account.php and it works just fine. Of course, then I can't do anything more because none of the needed files are found. Grr. Sorry if this is just me being really stupid.

So... how do I fix it? Https is hypertext transfer protocol (Secure) as I recall, so it's not like it's stored somewhere different, it's just the manner in which it is communicated.

Any ideas?

Depending on how your http and https server are setup. Like YES it COULD be store "somewhere different" like on another server - across the hall or somewhere on the other side of the world.....

First I would check your ADMIN and turn off force cookies.... Try that first.

Second - REMOVE your HTTPS setting and turn it off (in BOTH configure.php files). If it work then it is your HTTPS settings...

- If your on a shared certificate then ask your HOST what you should be using.
- If not on a shared cert- did you buy one? Or create a self signed? for which address? Does it include the www. like https://www.mysecuresite.com or just https://mysecuresite.com?
- Ask your host IF the secure pages have to be loaded in a different directory like \html\ for non-secure and \html-ssl\ for secure (or a totally different server....)
