Default fed-up and frustrated

hi folks,
I've installed, re-installed, and deleted, re-uploaded, installed again and again and still can't get it to work.
the problems seem to be coming ffrom a shared SSL provided by my host.
That and probably some corruption while trying to upload on a dial up connection while the kids are out of school..?

If I place 'localhost' in the https address box, I can get the admin and catalog to install, and display, but cannot log members, and use checkout.
My host seems to be lazy, so I keep getting reffered back to the forums for support.
Anyone feel up to takling this monster?
I have php4, Mysql, and all the goodies, with the exception of my own certificate, so I'm at a total loss here..

Hi,

Email me your catalog/includes/configure.php and admin/includes/configure.php file and I'll see if I can help.
modom@designhosting.biz

Send the site url and the path to your root files.

Who are you hosting with?

This shows your parent directory:
http://www.w-n-jbirds.com/store/catalog/

You need to have your server people add default.php to the addhandler in httpd.conf or there is an htaccess contribution here that will fix that.

There are no folders listed in the parent directory so need the functions, includes, and other folders.

Does the catalog/includes/configure.php have this line at the very bottom?
define('STORE_SESSIONS', ''); // leave empty '' for default handler or set to 'mysql'

When you try to order something it goes to this url:
https://www18.fatcow.com/w-n-jb//sto...e309f5a0a38090

Do you have all of your store files on both servers?

Try disabling https to false and see if you have the same problem.

Uh,...somebody change the settigs for the forum? I had to re-register to log in...

This is from my host, saying they've modified something, but I don't understand what...

Here is a link to php script I put in your directory.
https://www18.fatcow.com/w-n-jb/phpinfo.php
This php runs fine via the ssl.
It appears to me that there may be something wrong with the script
you are trying to run. Since it is a third party script you should
contact the author of it for trouble shooting purposes.
I don't know of access to the https server, but I will ask them and see what they say. From a previous install of a store script, you simply had to have anything pointing to a https file, you had to write an htaccess file to redirect all queries to http.
I'll try the handler, and SSL settings and see what develops.

I sent you a private message.

Also, do you have all of your store files in both places, your domain root and your folder at https://www18.fatcow.com/w-n-jb ?

They are just telling you that php is working.

now I get this from my host...
Quote:
Based on the file paths appearing in your error messages, it appears
your script is trying to access directories that are not made
available on our servers. It may be possible to create a "tmp" folder
in your root directory and modify the script to look there, but we
are unable to troubleshoot this third-party script.

If we can be of further assistance please let us know.
I have NO idea what they are talking about.....LOL

If the /tmp directory is not available on their servers then it looks like you're stuck unless Michael or someone else knows how to disable this.

Default Try putting sessions in your DB

In configure.php try this:

define('STORE_SESSIONS', 'mysql');

This should preclude the need for the /tmp dir.

Also you can try creating a /tmp dir in your home/root directory and set permissions to 777. That may work.

One last thing, your host is running php4.0.6 - seriously outdated! If you arent happy with your host, I know a couple I could recommend
