| I am trying to install OSCommerce V2.2ms2, i have unzipped it and uploaded to my server where i will develop the store. The server is a Cobalt RaQ550, running PHP 4.0.6, mysql 3.23.56-MAX and phpmyadmin 2.5.4 When i run the install script it gets to the enter the database info, so i enter the server ip address, username, pasword, and the name of a blank database (trncproducts - created in phpmyadmin), but when i click continue the next page is half missing I dont know what to do - i hate this kind of thing, mysql really does my nut in and never plays nicely so i dont know if its that or the installer thats at fault. If you click the links below youll see a screenie of what i get at the database and post database stages. http://www.so3d.net/osc1.jpg - database setup http://www.so3d.net/osc2.jpg - what i get after |

| slime101, please, no more useless 'it doesnt work' titles. It makes searches done across the BBS less relevant. Make the title more about the actual problem - 'Setup fails on page x' or something like that. It is most likely your server that has the problem. Old PHP, OLD MYSQL are most likely the culprit. Upgrade those first. The installer runs fine. I have personally installed 200+ sites, and never once had a problem with the installer. Check your error logs, and see if you have any in there...

| Jeesus - you ask for help and you get some sarkey **** answering it and having a go about the title, which is actually correct, it doesnt work. As oscommerce claims to work on any version i dont know what to upgrade too, and if you knew anything about cobalts you'd know that it is upgraded to the latest officialy supported version so going any newer isnt advised. Thanks for the help tho! |

| slime101, I am not a sarkey ****, I run this board, run the site, and offer more help here than anyone, and I am asking you nicely, and all others who read this, to stop with the useless, non descriptive titles. The search feature on this BBS depends on users writing relevant titles. I ask you to do so because a RELEVANT subject will allow others who are having the same problem to find it more easily. You are right about Cobalts though, I have never used one. If those versions are the newest you can run, it looks like a hunk of junk to me. Those versions are at least a year and a half old, if not older. The operating phrase is it 'should' work on older software, but there are a lot of IF's in there. Hopefully someone running the same type of server can help out.

| Hey! Try to uncomment "extension=mysql.so" in php.ini. I had the exact same problem and that solved it for me. Cheers /S |
