can download purchase be a link to a form?

I have just done a major overhaul and upgraded to oscommerce-2.2rc2a and also enabled DownloadsControllerv5_3_2c.

In the previous version of the shop, I had 2 items for sale which were 'online advice' - when the purchaser got to the download link, it was simply a link to a .php file in the downloads directory which was an online form. It worked quite well - popped open the form in a new window and allowed them to type in their question which was sent as an email.

With the new version of the shop that I have just installed, instead of redirecting the purchaser to the online form, the system attempts to simply download the .php file.

I can see quite a few differences between the old download.php file and the new one, but I'm not sure if this is where the change has occurred.

Can anyone advise what I would need to change to let the download link simply open the file rather than download it?

Download controller is working correctly - would try and force a file download - so people can't have access to local files - or one person purchasing the downloaded and 10000 able to download it - for free....

Thanks JPF, that would make sense. I think I recall that the early version of osCom didn't need Downloads Controller - it was just a case of turning downloads on in the admin area.

Now I have a problem to try and figure out a way to offer this 'online advice email' item as a saleable item that is easy to use.

Is there any other kind of contribution that does this kind of thing?

Or is there any other way I can provide a downloadable item that opens as a form that sends email? A PDF form which sends an email (but how to prevent this being used more than once?)...

Any ideas welcome...

OTF - Option Type Feature - and attrib option to prompt with a text box(s) that is attached to the order.

Email a link to your site that has the form - with a link to the order number (Hack a PHP solution your self)

Include a downloadable file - a PDF/DOC that they would fill out and email back. (need to make the form fillable and that it can be saved and emailed....)

Hi guys.. I downloaded the DownloadsControllerv5_3_2c and set it up as in the readme file.. I added the attribute the order status, inserted the extra options in the configuration file.
I still can't get it 2 work?
after the order is pending i do to the admin->orders and update the status (manually) go back to the user and no download link is presented!!
Help me please?
and is there a way I can make the order process itself, without needing an admin to process it everytime?
