Default accessing the page issue

hello everybody,,

very new to all this...
the folder i install everything is under /folder1/catalog.
i have a test page in /folder1, so if i click on my domanin name it picks up the /folder1/index.php

when i installed ths application everyting is under catalog...
i removed the index.php from folder1 but it displayed a list of whats in the folder1...what can i do or put into folder1/index.php so that it looks for the index.php in catalog.

example would be great...
thanks everybody...

Why not just install to /folder1 instead of /folder1/catalog ?

Or redirect your site ie: www.mysite.com to load www.mysite.com/catalog/index.php (or www.mysite.com/folder1/catalog/index.php ?)
