Default Couple of Questions??

Sorry just a quick couple of questions:

1. Whats the best way to edit a .sql database on my local computer?

2. Where can I find the file containing the country information list?

3. Can you add a product attribute/option were the price of the product is multiplied by a number, apart from just adding a value. (eg I am building a wine site. I want the wine to be ahown as a per bottle price, but an option to choose either a 6 or 12 bottle case(required by law))

4. Can I add a variable when a new customer signs up that when they enter their DOB that they have to be over 18 years, can this be an option thatr can adjust to the current date, if so how?)

Thanks for any help you could advise me.

Regards
Sam

1. when you say a .sql database on your local computer, what do you mean? .sql is not a database, it is usually a dump from a database. if you got a dump from mysql, you can install mysql on your machine and edit it the hard way, through the mysql command line interface, or via a GUI program, such as MySQL Control Center (MySQLCC). the REAL question is: what are you ultimately tryig to do and why? there may be a better way to get it acomplished.

2. i believe country info is stored in the database; the root file in oscommerce is /catalog/admin/countries.php, but it calls other included files and whatnot, so you have to dig from there. perhaps you can do your eiting through the admin control panel?

3. not with a default installation of ms2 max; unless you want to do a couple of days worth of hacking, and still, i think you would have a shaky solution at best; if users are allowed to order by the case i would just set up a case product as a separate product, or allow them to edit the quantity in the shopping cart and send them a case if the order warrants it.

4. i believe there is a contribution at www.oscommerce.com where you can set up the age minimum, but i'm not sure. you can go there and search for it. also, don't forget that the drinking age is going to vary country to country... might that present a problem if an American kid orders from your site?

peace,
jim
