Question Admin log-in no password prompt ?

    Hi all

Ive been trying to set up my first oscommerce site and so far its going ok (with a few hic-ups along the way) The thing thats concerning me is that when I go to my admin page via my browser it goes straight into the admin control page without prompting me for a username or password ?

Does anyone know why this might be & how I could fix it ?

    Many thanks in advance
    Marky

Ps. how do I change the name of the site as it still says oscommerce ? Ive looked in lots of the .php pages but cant see where to change it. Tried it in admin but that didnt work ?

Did you ever have to login? Perhaps your cookie/session has not expired. Clear all cookies from your browser and see if it asks you to login.

    Are you running osCommerce 2.2RC2a?

    Hi micheal
Actually no ive never had to log in ? I use firefox tried clearing the cookies to no effect so thought id try it in IE and got the same result ie no prompt just straight to the admin control panel ... wierd
Its a template which I believe is a couple of years old so its probably not 2.2RC2A does that matter ?

Ok, it is probably MS2. That version does not have built in password protection. You will need to use .htaccess to lock the admin directory.

Your hosting control panel will probably have a "Password protect directories" option. Use that to protect it. Otherwise, google htaccess password protect
