| I have recently installed an ebook website, seemed to have followed all instructions but when I get to admin I get the error message "Unable to connect to database server!". Reading through various sites, most seem to indicate that the configure.php files are not set correctly. I have checked both using the cpanel file manager and can't see a problem. Can anyone help?/advise? regards Colin |

| This error means that your database login/host information that is set in the configure.php file does not match the actual required login/host information of your database, the database is not present, or the user does not have permissions on the database.

| Hi guys and many thanks for your help. I have checked the configure.php login and host information and it appears to be correct. Is this the login for the database or the login for the webhost? The server is on localhost and I am using http. Could you comment further please? regards Colin |

| I can guarantee it is not correct, that is why you are getting that specific error. It means that the info you provided in the configure.php is not the correct info to connect to the databse. If the mysql server is on the same physical server as the web server, then set the host name to 'localhost' If not, find out the host name of the mysql server. This is not a url, so there will be no http in the host name.

| Hi everyone. I asked the seller of the software to install for the price of $30. They have the site working but still cannot go through the admin to modify settings etc. They refunded the $30, being unable to sort the problem. Are there any webmasters out there who fancy taking a look and sorting this? - I can't help but think that there can't be too much wrong. If I type in the web address (internet-ebooks.net) everything appears ok. I need to modify via admin file but if I go to internet-ebooks.net/admin I get an error message as follows: The website cannot display the page HTTP 500 Most likely causes:
