uncommon error after installation.

osCommerce installs like a breeze. The admin section works great. And the main page of the store works great but as soon as I click on any link on the page I get:

"Fatal error. The script tried to execute a method or access a property of an incomplete object. Please ensure that the class definition navigationhistory of the object you are trying to operate on was loaded _before_ the session was started in /usr/www/htocs/domain/shop/includes/application_top.php on line 309"

Anyone have a clue? It doesn't look like the usual type of error.
The only warning I get when opening the main page is that "auto_start" is enabled and needs to be disabled. but since it's not my server I can't change this. Is this what's causing the problem do you think?

I get the same error as dongrocker as well. I think it might have something to do with "session.auto_start On On" being set too "on" can anyone confirm if this is an issue? And if so is there a work around besides turning it to off?

Just as a test, I installed OScommerce on my mac. It took about 12 seconds and it was up and running perfectly. Frustrating to see how flawlessly OSC can work with zero effort considering that I've spent hours on this.

Unfortunately, I have no control over the php settings on my live server because it's shared and I'm not the admin...

If anyone comes up with a clever solution or can verify that it's the auto_start feature causing the problem, please post!

PHP 4.1.2 is ancient and should be updated. Also, you need to have auto_start disabled. You can do this in an .htaccess file. Add the following line to your .htaccess:

php_flag session.auto_start 0

I installed OC Commerce 2.2 on a dedicated windows NT server using PHP 4.3.1. When I set session.auto_start=0 in php.ini the application works but other php applications do not.

i tried changing htaccess file with php_value session.auto_start 0 but this does nothing probably because this is not an apache server. Anyone have any suggestions.
