image problems

I posted this in the mod section of the forum (maybe that wasn't the right place?) but have not had any responses yet.

I have not been able to get any of my product images to work, they all end up as broken image icons. I have tried uploading them directly from the add product pane. When I do that it shows that I did upload the image, the image name will appear after I hit upload, but there will be no thumbnail or other image available on the actual catalog page (or in the dashboard type admin area where you upload products/catagories).

I have also tried uploading directly to the server, to various folders, such as the same folder where I put my logo image (which does show up on my site with no problems), and other image folders as well.

I have tried uploading various sizes of images, this doesn't seem to make any difference either.

Is there something I'm missing here? Why aren't my images showing up?
