different currencies issue

hi can somebody tell us about our conversation between satish and me if there are any reason why its not possible to have two different currencies using oscommerce.. i just need enough reason to explain it well to the client. thanks.

It sounds like a very odd client request - I would suggest that you simply allow the store to checkout in a single currency (selectable using the standard functionality - SPD or USD) but display the price of the product in both currencies. Then it is up to the customer to decide if they want to check out in US$ or SPD$. Regards,

actually the existing one of the website has a drop down menu with SGD and USD currencies. so the customer has options to select what currencies they want. but the client suggest to delete it and they want to fix the currency in SGD or USD in every products.

There are no contributions that I know of that would do this. You would need to code this yourself. But all you really need to do is everywhere you display the price of a product add an extra bit of code to take the US$ price multiply it by the exchange rate and output the SPD price. The only complicated bit is if you want to sell in either currency because you would have to reverse the logic if you are pricing in SPD. Regards,

but what if create a multiple store? the store1 will hold all the product in SGD and store2 will hold all the products in USD? any contribution for that?

Multi-store is a very complicated install for osCommerce. Also multi-store uses the same products for each store so you would need to pre-group your customers to limit the display to the correct currency. I am really confused as to why your client would want to do this anyway! Surely the customer would select the currency they want to see the prices and checkout in. Or is it that the store owner only wants to sell item X in US$ and item Y in SPD$? If this is the case I can see no way to achieve this since the checkout MUST be a single currency. You would be better off building two separate stores one in US$ and one in SPD$ then each could have their own products and pricing ... Regards,
