Default Comparing v2 beta against v2 final

I'm using v2.0.25 and I've made some posts in the forums about customers' shipping information not submitting with their orders. At first I though this was related to PWA and installed an osC contribution that is supposed to fix this. It didn't help. Some customers have reported to me that they are never even prompted to enter any shipping info, even when they opt to create a full account.

This problem has been reported to have been fixed in the next release of oscmax so I'm desperate to upgrade to it just to be certain that shipping info is no longer lost. The problem is that I have installed the Header Tags SEO contribution (because I know that it makes a difference, but I won't get into that now). If I were to upgrade to the latest stable release of oscmax and install Header Tags SEO, will I have to install it again when the final release of v2 is available? Furthermore, is there any way to convince the developer/maintainer to include Header Tags SEO with oscmax? I know people will continue to say that Dynamic Meta Tag Generator is sufficient enough for SEO, but I have compared the results of each and I can say with a high level of certainty that they are not equal. Header Tags SEO is far superior.

The Header Tags SEO module has been discussed by the developers and will be reviewed for inclusion for v2.6.

Feel free to add this to the bugtracker - make sure you flag it as a 'feature' and for v2.6 otherwise it will be deleted.

Did you mean to add a Header Tags SEO request, or add the problem about 0.00 product weight items not getting a shipping address to the bug tracker?

Things that weigh nothing are digital products and as such should not be charged shipped! This is not a bug or a 'problem'.

I was referring to Header Tags SEO ...

It is a problem when there's nothing documented which states that all shippable products must have a weight value.

Even the Table Rate shipping module says, "The shipping cost is based on the order total or the total weight of the items ordered."

That makes it pretty clear that the shipping charge calculation is based on the order total or the total weight, and if the charges are based on order total, then weight is irrelevant.

Using the search bar for "zero weight shipping" reveals:
    Shipping not showing in checkout
There are a number of posts relating to this but with 3hrs sleep, I'll leave it to others, to 'explore' etc.

    Hi Shortbus,

It is a problem when there's nothing documented which states that all shippable products must have a weight value.
Just so you are aware this is the first point on the FAQ in the Wiki - http://wiki.oscdox.com/faq

    Q. Why does osCMax keep skipping the shipping page?
    A. When a product weight is 0, shipping is skipped because osCMax is assuming that it is a digital product for download.
Also from the Wiki - http://wiki.oscdox.com/catalog
Products Weight :: Set the weight of the product. Do not leave this blank unless it is a download. If you leave it blank, your shipping modules will not work correctly on checkout.
Or again in the Wiki - http://wiki.oscdox.com/setting_up_downloadable_products

I know the documentation is not perfect but the bulk of it is there ... we are working hard to expand the feature list for v2.5 as well as write documentation for the system ... It is a time consuming and in the case of documentation, a boring, process ... as we transfer the wiki from v2.0.25 to v2.5 and update accordingly, so bear with us ...

If you think the Wiki is missing sections that you think should be in there please feel free to contribute ...

    Regards,
    pgmarshall
