| It seems that there are many of us trying to use osCMax with php5 and having issues, so I don't feel quite as alone as I did. First off, thanks, Michael, for responding to my pm regarding this issue yesterday. I appreciate your help. Now, here's the issue. I have no access to my php.ini file as I'm on shared hosting. I have searched and researched and haven't been able to find a solution that I understand. I created the following .htaccess file: php_flag register_globals on php_flag register_long_arrays on to no avail. I then added AllowOverride Options Allow from all and got a 500 error. I know that the above was incorrect, but figured I'd give it a try as someone somewhere suggested it. Any ideas? I have already contacted the host and have been told that for security reasons, they will not edit it, so I am needing to override this somehow. Help! =-0 Last edited by crystina; 04-04-2007 at 07:04 PM. |

| Your best bet is to first contact your host to see if you have permission to turn on register globals or of they will do it for you. If you cannot get it turned on, your only other option is to patch your store with the register globals mod. Here is the mod for osCMax: Testers needed for register_globals/register_long_arrays=off I run osCMax on php5 without any issues whatsoever, it just needs to be configured to meet osCMax requirements. This is easily done via .htaccess if your host allows it.

| While waiting for a reply, I went ahead and answered that above post... "testers needed..." and (drumroll please...) IT WORKED! My site is up and running and working perfectly so far. Thank you both for your help! |

| just a after thought for anyone else reading this, you can attempt to write a php.ini file out of a text file and then type this into it register_globals=off register_long_arrays=off and put that in your admin folder, main folder, and the install folder. it will allow the system to read it as the INI file and works on most linux distros powered with apache |
