Default Template Installation

Not the swiftest of birds and need some help in sorting out the directory/folders in a new template installation.

osCMax template from the Template Store. BTS_Installation instructions say to:

"2. Copy "includes" directory over to [catalog]/includes"
Does I need to remove all existing folders/files from the "includes" directory and then add the ones from the new template?? If so, will this preclude me from simply switching templates thru the admin panel in the future?

Thanks. CK

Default Re: Template Installation

You probably don't want to blindly overwrite your files in that folder. I suggest you see what files are being overwritten by the template and compare the original against the new file using a diff tool like kdiff3 or beyond compare.

Most likely it is safe to do, but make sure you have the original osCMax files on hand in case you run into problems.

You don't need to remove any of the original files, though, just upload the new ones and they will overwrite any files that have the same name, and leave all the others alone.
