Default PayPal Returns to "Payment Information" Page

I hope someone is familiar with this and knows the fix.

I am testing my PayPal through the PayPal Sandbox.

When I make a test purchase, here is what happens:

1. Successfully complete [Delivery Info] page
2. Successfully complete [Payment Info] page
3. Successfully complete [Confirmation] page
4. Successfully login to PayPal test account
5. Successfully complete payment
6. Click on the [Click here to complete transaction] button
7. Returns to the [Payment Info] page !
8. I select "PayPal" for a second time (same order!)
9. Successfully complete Step-8 [Payment Info] page
10. Successfully process payment (again) thru PayPal
11. Click on the [Click here to complete transaction] button
12. Returns to the [Order Successfully Completed] page.

Afterward, two orders show up in the admin/orders screen, each within 1.5 minutes of one another.

PayPal thinks it was two orders.

Please help if you have any idea what this may be.

Many thanks. This is the very last thing before I can go live!

Regards,

Lobo

I apologize for having two of these (inside of 60-seconds!).

I got an error when I tried to post that led me to believe it hadn't been posted.

Sorry about that...

Could you pm me the error when you tried to post... we have been getting a more of these issues over the last couple of days.

Next, I have seen this duplicate order issue in the bugtracker:

Hi Michael,

The link you provided seems to be similar to the problem I was describing, I hope its the same thing. It's worth a shot. THANKS!

As for the error, here's what happened... [1] I clicked to create a new thread and got the proper screen for doing so. [2] I typed my new text into the box, no HTML, just plain text. [3] When I clicked the "Post New Thread" button (ie not the "Preview" button), the next thing that happened was the standard window opened that would indicate I wanted to either run or save a file.

I am using Windows XP and Firefox 1.5.0.9. DETAILS: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.9) Gecko/20061206 Firefox/1.5.0.9

I can do it again and be more specific, like the filename, if you want. Let me know if you don't mind the clutter.

Regards,

Lobo

Hello Forum,

The resolution in the BugTracker link above is for a different problem than mine. My problem is NOT double orders as a result of duplicate code, it's double orders as a result of PayPal returning to "payment information" rather than "order success/finished" after proper processing.

I wouldn't have the double order if I didn't continue from the "payment information" screen, to the "confirmation screen", off to PayPal and back. When I get back, I do get to the "finished" screen.

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Lobo

The only other fix I can think of is that you have IPN set up wrong at paypal.com.

You need to remove any Auto Return urls and any pre-set IPN urls at paypal.com. Auto return should be turned off and IPN should not have a return url set.
