Default Cannot access admin

Hello,

I installed the shopping cart on my local computer so that i could build it before I host it. I have a problem with the admin though. Specifically, I can't log in. First of all there is no way to register and second, no matter what username and password I try to use it doesn't work. So any help would be appreciated to correct this problem.

Thanks,

wstinnett

Is there another link to use now? At the old board it says that doesn't exist and I'm having similar issue.

Found the answer! In the documents that came with your download there is a file that says readme_oscmax_1_7
I renamed it so it had .txt on the end and inside that is the default log in information.

Once you are in there under my account you can set the admin email and password. It's a good idea to double up on security though with the .htaccess and password files. Just in case someone finds your store before you get it changed.

My problem is that I updated that login ID to my name and a new password. And now the database is not recognising the new password.
Nor does it recognise my first name when I hit the forgotten password link.

I migrated my product and customer data sucessfully, and it all shows up in the front end. But I am wondering if I have a problem connecting with my databse from the admin side.

Just use phpmyadmin to default the admin login info. You can get the info that you need to set it to from the sql file in the install directory. Just grab the admin email or set it to whatever email you want, then paste in the default password data and save.

Then go to your login page and use the password of admin and you will get right in. Then change the info again, making sure that you remember what you change it to...
