Default osc to oscmax noob question

hi everyone,

i currently have this shop near completion running standard osc

http://shop.haveyourcakeandeatit.org

i am however considering converting over to oscmax after some good advice off a friend. saying it has better security, options etc.

however, i have near 2000 individual products in stock - i need to know that as a noob with minimal html, php experience (i bumbled my way to where i am right now) how easy is it for me to convert all my products over to oscmax?

just so you know, i havent opened the shop yet, so no customers are set up - just the products

any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Gary

Export to excel (ie: Comma Separated Values) and import into the new DB....if you don't have and or just a few attribs. If you do use alot of attribs then install easypopulate for MS2 in the OLD store to export then use the easypopulate already in MAX to import it.

Default RE: osc to oscmax noob question

OSCMax definitely has some great features, security and otherwise over original default osc packages. However, OSCMax does have some bloated code, dated mods and other stuff. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a couple of weeks to put into getting familiar with and restyling the entire site. OSCmax includes a template system which, once understood, dominates. You will have to restyle the entire site via the templates, and make a few corrections to correctly add items to orders as mentioned (PRETTY IMPORTANT) in a recent post (see "order details missing products") (which apparently no one has responded to... am I dumb or is the interest here just dead?). If you have the time it is definitely worth it.
