Default Order numbers being skipped?

How can an order # be skipped?

Here is an email from a client:
I am working on orders and have noticed that there are missing orders that have not shown up in my OsMax under orders. I went into my e-mail and they are not there either.

The order sequence goes from #55 to #57. Order #56 is missing. This was on 9-30

Today, I am taking orders off and noticed that (2) orders are missing. #87, and #89. The sequence goes .... #86 to #88 and from #88 to #90.

I looked through my e-mail and they have not come through and they are not listed in the OsCmax under orders.....




9-30 Order #56

10-03 Orders #87, 89

It happens when a customer makes an order but doesn’t make a payment.

oscmax and osc creates a order number when a customer add a product to the shopping cart, but if the customer doesn’t go through with the payment there is an empty order in the database. That is why it jumps in order numbers.

Don't know if there is a solution to this, maybe one of the admins can answer that.

Ok, thanks, hopefully that will give her an explanation as to what happened to those orders.
