| First off, let me just say thank you to all involved in this project. I have been using OSC 2.2 MS2 for about a year and half now. While I believe the project is fantastic, the lack of documentation and difficult/tedious to add contributions make it a real bear if you run a shop that's a bit out of the norm. OSCMax has just about every contribution I've added by hand and then some. Thanks for the hard work! On to my question. I am trying to set up OSCMax on my local machine to get everything set up before migrating to the production server. I was able to get OSCMax up and running, but when I point it at a local copy of my store's database it complains about not having a cache table. Can some kind person please tell me what I have to do in order to migrate my 2.2MS2 database over to OSCMax v2? |

| alot of work, the database i qiuet diffrrent in oscmax then osc. Some tables have more or less fields and some fields may even have diff. types, so it will take alot of work to do it. The thing that I did, was that i send a email to all my costumers saying that we had changed the shop system and that they would recive a password for the new shop. Then I created all the cosutmers in the oscmax shop.

| Yes, I am starting to find that it is a lot of work! I prefer not to start from scratch, but if necessary I will. I have 400+ products in my catalog. Is there an 'easy' way to import at least the catalog items, category and attributes? I know the goal of OSCMax is to make things easier on the shop owner and I am sure that I would prefer to run OSCMax rather than stock OSC, but migrating over is turning out to be really rough. I realise that this is one of those 'not-my-problem' type questions, but would it be possible for someone on the OSCMax tool to make a OSC to OSCMax db conversion tool?? I'm willing to pay a handful of dollars to anyone who is willing to make this conversion possible. |

| There already is a tool, called mysqldiff that will create a diff sql batch script that will update your original db structure to match osCMax, then it is a matter of exporting the data you want to keep, like the products, customers, attributes, etc, and then importing them into the osCMax empty db. There are at least a dozen posts on this site that talk about how to do this. Do a few searches and you will find a lot of info.

| Yes, I know. I've read through many of the post you are referring to. Perhaps I have bad luck, but I am having a hell of a time getting this to work. I've tried a combination of mysqldiff and sqlyog enterprise with some success. All I was really saying in my previous message is that it would be nice if the conversion would be more automated. Wouldn't the same sql statements and copy functions apply to all relevent tables from the OSC db and the OSCMax db? I know that it's easy to ask for a script/prog to do this and it's not so easy to go about writing it, but from reading the other posts it seems like others have difficulty migrating as well. This is not meant as a criticism of OSCMax but rather to help improve the migration process. I've spent several hours trying to get things working but as of now have not been able to do so. I'm very excited about this project, but if I can't somehow stumble through the conversion of my db from one format to the next, then the switch will not be possible. This is quite depressing as the OSCMax has so much to offer! I wish I had known about it when I first set up my website ... |

| osCMax is still in development, so a conversion script is premature at this point, but yes I agree it is something that should be implemented. Perhaps if you provide the error you are getting, I would be able to assist you through the process...

| Thanks for your help and guidance. While I was struggling to figure out how to do this myself I gave the ZenCart software a try. It does everything I need and I was able to find a conversion script written by a user on their forums. Best of luck with your project. |
