How can I change the password for the database on the configure.php file and have it encrypted? Is it necessary to encrypt it?
Not really - if you encript it then you have to have a php file to decript it - if they can see both - pointless. If you use the .htaccess files and make sure the file is CHMOD properly then no one can read/write to it. MAKE SURE you use a STRONG PASSWORDS - Move the ADMIN to another directory like /mi_seekrit_adminumin_directorie/
(misspelling on purpose) or some random directory name catalog/a9d7m5i3n1/ - all of this is pointless id you have a weak FTP or SSH or ADMIN or MySQL password or the server it self is hacked - then it is basically pointless.

Forgot - you could also COMPILE all the code and include that file also... But then any changes you make and you would have to re-complile the whole thing again.....
