| I have MySQL v5.0.17-nt, PHP v4.4.2 and Apache 2.0.55 running on a new test machine. I installed oscmax_2_RC2.zip and then osCMax-2.0RC2-update051112.zip and created a new database and then ran catalog/install. All went well and I can open the shop with catalog/index.php. However if I try to open the admin pages I only get the headers "Chose an action..", "Store Management" and "Store Setup" appearing (see attachment). I can go through the same routine on another machine which has MySQL 4.1.8-nt, PHP 4.3.8 and Apache 2.0.50 without any problems. Any suggestions as to what might be wrong? Thanks for your help. | I would suggest reuploading all files (except for configure.php) and try again. I don't think this is a problem with PHP 5 - maybe downgrade to 4 and try to see if that clears it up....

| I never solved the above problem and I gave up beating my head against that brick wall and tried re-installing everything. I now have Apache 2.0.58, PHP 4.4.2 and oSCMax 2.0 RC2 and 2.0RC2-update051112 working. I had problems getting Apache to load PHP properly and was getting no help from the Apache logs or the "failed" dialog box the came from Apache Monitor. The critical thing to me getting this working was finding the -t option in Apache. Running this from a DOS box checks the configuration files for validity and outputs error messages if it finds problems. This helped me diagnose the problem and fix it. The other bear trap I fell into was the failure of Apache to start up on the initial install. It was complaining about being unable to bind to port 80. I finally tracked this down to Skype!! For some reason, best known to teh Skype developers, Skype uses ports 80 and 443 by default as an alternate port to accept incoming connections. This may be because many firewalls will be configured to have port 80 and 443 open for HTTP and HTTPS traffic. Saves them problems but creates problems for everyone else! Well done Skype |

| If skype has a lock on port 80 that can be causing your problems. Ether configure Skype to use port 8080(or some other port) or change apache port (if using a test server).
