Do a clean install again and then change the credentials from the admin panel. You cannot change the pw directly in the DB as it requires an md5 hash, not actual text.

Hmmm - this is an old thread - I must be missing something.
Run the installer, system specs OK, installs perfect, tables created.
admin user and pwd created in the database.
Sessions setting OK as 'mysql'.
Permissions 777 (out of frustration) ownership apacheuser.apachegroup.
When I go to login as admin, it asks for username and password, when I input what was setup it just bounces back with blank fields.
Reinstalled many times - same results.
Arrrgh
Help Please.

Problem found - A global httpd.conf directive created an alias for /admin/ that was overriding every time I went to /admin. Created a vhost alias and fixed it.

Hi,
Set us OOSCMAX for the first time - all ok on shop see http://andrewporter.co.uk/catalog/
but when i try to log into admin i get error message
http://andrewporter.co.uk/catalog/admin
Fatal error: main() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/application_top.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php') in /homepages/33/d95818980/htdocs/catalog/admin/index.php on line 13
I am sure I have done something silly but what?
Thanks in advance
Andrew
Successfully installed osCMax v2.0.4 on a local Wampserver. Tried to install on my host server & all was good. Access to catalog is fine.
When I tried to log in:
User - admin@localhost.com
Password - admin
...I get error! I did a reinstall (& set the appropriate CHMOD 777). I have purchased the Guide Book but this & previous posts fail to mention there is now a new installation form asking Store Owner & Admin Login details. I added the above as user/password for admin here but I still get locked out.
Selecting 'Forgot Password' option is useless as it refuses to accept User!
Could it have something to do with having an active SSL cert?
define('ENABLE_SSL', false);
Frustrated,
John

Oh Boy, are you confused?... look at the date of the original post!
Ignore all this.
During the install you were asked to provide admin login details - use that.
If still struggling, then look in the wiki documentation - forgot admin password is a good place to begin.
Hosting plans with installation, configuration, contributions, support and maintenance.
Tried install again but still fails!
To clarify a bit, the Catalog is not in the root directory but a sub-directory:
/webspace/httpsdocs/MYDOMAIN/catalog
& MYDOMAIN has an active SSL cert. MySQL database installed. Apache server.
https://www.MYDOMAIN.com/catalog/install/
works fine to start the install. Database populates & we progress to 'Shop Owner' details. Here I put admin/admin as default user/password combination for Admin. At no point are any SSL checkboxes visible.
Install completes!
Catalog opens but pop-up says some webpage content not delivered by secure HTTPS. It also seems link to CSS is broken.
Tried to Login to Admin but this fails ....again!
Tired & misguided ...but not confused!!!
