Default Installing oscmax

Hey everyone,
I read the bit of info about converting from os 2.2 to the oscmax but I really dont understand it. Will I lose everything that I have already done on my site? I only have a few contribs. added such as Individual shipping for each product but just want to make sure I dont lose my catalog. Any help would be great on detailed steps or if someone wnats to do it for me for some cash that would be great also!

Thanks,

G

Default RE: Installing oscmax

1) if you haven't already installed easypopulate into ms2.2, do it.

2) download your catalog with easy populate

3) zip up your images directory

4) blow away ms2.2 (database, stryctures, everything (and now a word from the sane... please remember to backup BEFORE you do this - just in case)

5) install oscMAX

6) upload your catalog using easypopulate

7) restore your images directory

Be ready for some VERY big changes. One of the key things that you may not be ready for is that BTS requires you to start doing all your code changes in the templates directory. This is a tad more complex than doing it in catalog/ , but overall there is a great deal of additional power in the templates.

PS: Welcome to a well integrated product.

Hey Guys,
I am still having trouble getting this thing to export my products. I would really hate to have to input all of my products over and that would probably stop me from upgrading. I see the link under the catolog menu and it says import export utility. When I click it I get this error.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@domain.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cant get any good support anywhere for this and if I cant figure this out I am just not going ot be able to see these great features that can be offered
TIA

Okay, I'm confused.

You did (1) on your old store
You did (2) on your old store
You did (3) on your old store

Now you should have all the products from your old store in a spreadsheet and all the images in a zip file.

Now you did (5) and created a new oscMAX site

If all went right, you should be able to feed the oscMAX store with the file from (2) and that should populate the manufacturers, products and categories in the new oscMAX store. Then you should upload the images to the correct directory and he store should function.

So, when you say you are having problems exporting, are you on step (2) nd attempting to use easypopulate from the old store to get the data into a file that you will then be loading up to the new oscMAX?

hey i appreciate your help so far!!!!!

I am at the point where I have installed easy populate and I am seeing the link for it under "catalog". When I click that I get the above mentioned error. So I have yet to actually export products.

Not sure if you can help me with this but the support thread for this is not very helpful over on oscommerce forums.

Thanks much in advance!

since I have never seen this error when installing easypopulate I'm not sure what could be creating the error. I do wish I could be more helpful, but at this point the challenge is coming from a standard osc and a standard mod install, and the best place to get the feedback necessary to fix that would be at the osc forums (as easypopulate is already included in oscMAX, this isn't an oscMAX type issue).

No, I'm not trying to brush you off, it's just that I never encountered what you are describing when installing easy populate in the past.
