Default New Shop Questions

Im starting up a new store and was wondering a couple of new questions.

What is the major difference between osCMax 1.7 and osCMax 2.2 RC2 besides newer modules installed. The main reason is because I am running a store which does not depend on stock and requires multiple product attributes, and Ive noticed that QTPro v4.2 is causing conflicting issues. What would be an apporpriate action would be wise secuirty wise versus compatibilty? Thanks again for a wonderful osCommerce distro.

Default RE: New Shop Questions

1.7 is fully functional. I have been running a store from there for the last year and a half. 2.2 has a ton more features though and I highly recommend it. Before you work on a 1.7 shop, I would try to work out the conflicts with QTPro and see if you can get 2.2 working. Post your problems and maybe we can help you out.

Good luck.

Well, like I said, my store doesnt use in/out of stock, so I need to remove that. I also read across the forums in a couple of places that QTPro conflicts with Product Attributes (which is whats happening on my store). My store we basically sell leather based items, so we need to add things like color and size. Since my site doesnt run on stock, I wont need QTPro. Is there a simple way to back it out of the distro? Also, what about when someone clicks on a product and it brings it up to the description and add to cart, how can I change the image to display at 300x200 instead of a tiny thumbnail? Thanks again.

It is not easy to remove QT pro. If you did not need OTF, you could just turn off stock tracking in the admin. It is a simple toggle with no code changes needed. Since you do need option type feature, you should just use v1.7.
