Default Another Buy It Now button issue

OK... I have decided to post a new thread on this since it seems to be a bit different of a problem on the Buy It Now button than is posted.... Please don't scream too loud....

Hello all... and props to all, especially Michael and Gabe for wonderful work and knowledge. I am also experiencing a Buy Now button issue for Version 2 from the Categories area. I have applied the ID=11 patch. I have tried my own homework on this, but now turned to the forum.

Problem: The link that is offered when rolling over (and of course clicking) the Buy Now button - excludes the .php file extension from the link.

From this link
http://partsoplenty.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=4

(which is OK)

Rolling over the Buy It Now button gives you this link
http://partsoplenty.com/catalog/inde...;products_id=1

Notice the .php is missing after index.

OK, I'm not the PHP expert here but my problem is not PHP, but where to find where this link is generated.

I'm not sure if I broke something applying bug fixes or not. Fix 11 is confirmed correct. I didn't just turn to the forum here. Please just point me in the right direction, if you can. The site is not live yet. This is not priority 1 for you, just for me. Thanks - Cleangroove

Default RE: Another Buy It Now button issue

That's a weird one... is it a cache or SEO URLs error? I have not used either of those contributions yet, so cannot really tell you where to look.

Thanks for your time and the reply!

I have additional information.

I have now done 2 fresh installs, including deleting all of the the tables in the DataBase (fresh start). I also have some other issues. The first time around trying to load the catalog page, it does not load all of the way... just dies somewhere near the footer. Also, when going to the ADMIN page, you get a -The page cannot be displayed- error. Usually it takes a couple (or more) of refreshes to load the index page.

This last (current) install was without the SSL selected. Its a complete default install, with only the INSTALL folder renamed and the Configure.php files re - 644'ed (they were 777 for install).

You can see the default install at the supplied link above.

To answer your questions, my Search-Engine-Safe URL is default FALSE. For this install nothing has been changed including any bug fixes. Those were fixed in prior installs without any change - so this install is stock with bugs, but same problem. The same link problem continues (the buy it now incorrect link).

This is not a rhetorical statement: The box PHP version is 4.1.1. I realize this version of MAX requests 4.2.?, and while I didn't realize this minimum requirement (sorry about that) when I first posted, my experience is that PHP usually screams when it can't carry out instruction, and there are no screams here. My current install of control panel will not allow for the upgrade of PHP without breaking the box (operation).

In an earlier install (unseccessful) I did try to reset SEO URLs cache (the SEO feature was turned on 2 installs ago) and got this warning back on the catalog site:
Warning: gzinflate: buffer error in /home/virtual/site33/fst/var/www/html/catalog/includes/classes/cache.class.php on line 152

Other elements of the box meet requirements of install of this MAX (v2 RC1) (apache, etc).

I realize the easy answer is to try the PHP update to PHP 4.2. - since I can't on this box, do we know if 4.1.1 PHP will not work? or perhaps another issue. Im tryin!!

Thanks again, cleangroove

It seems to me that your host may have too many people on too small a platform... with too old software.

The front page dying half way through is related (I think) to the duplicate right last box error... whatever that was, I forget. The admin page not loading sounds like a php time out... overloaded server.

If I was you I would get a nicer server. There are a lot of companies that offer very nice hosting on VPS partitions... very secure, low # of clients per server, all that for under $40/month... that might seen expensive if you are currently paying $7 a month or something, but in reality $40/month it nothing compared with the headaches that you are experiencing right now. It seems that many of your problems are host related.

check out hostgator.com, and ev1servers.com... also... you just can't beat hosting on aabox.com, since they are intimately aware of every component of osCMax...

Thank you again for the kind reply! Reference for others reading this: the duplicate box problem has been found and is bugfix 12. It works great and was fixed on my previous 2 installs, however this was NOT the fix for my existing problem. I suggest to all that the new bugtrack site is a wonderful thing! Visit now.
Reference: http://bugtrack.oscmax.com/view.php?id=12

We are on EV1 now and about 30 to 60 days from a box/panel upgrade there but my goal is to get this going now on this box if possible. The server is only hosting a handful of clients - mostly parked, and the active domains are not overloading the server (it's my box).

I was hoping you or someone (anyone, please) might know/think if the PHP 4.1.1 on my box is really a (or THE) compatibility problem on this server for osCMAX V2. We have an MS2-MAX installed on this server (another domain) without issue, but the advantages of V2 are just too great at this point to want to install the last production version 1.7.

Any further ideas appreciated. Thank you for your time and knowledge.
