Default Mysql import old version to new, now illegal template direct

Imported oscomm ms2 into osmac2 ms2 full sql dump via restore. Everything imported.

When I click the store Catalog link in admin to see the store it says:
Illegal template directory and nothing else.

Does anyone know where the template directory is called when you visit a website?

Boxes missing in admin but still in site:

Product Information
WYSIWYG Editor 1.7
Site Maintenance
Page Cache Settings
Accounts
Affiliate Program
Printable Catalog
Dynamic MoPics
SEO URLs

Previously you probably used the 'default' template which no longer exists... now use one of the other options here:

Admin> Configuration > MyStore > Default Template Directory >

To move a custom BTS template to osCMax 2.0 you have to move the stylesheet from the root directory to the custom template directory (same place as main_page.tpl.php) and you need to edit the main_page.tpl.php file and probably the box.tpl.php which then needs to be moved in to a subfolder of the custom template called 'boxes'

Basically use the aabox template directory and file structure as a model and use BeyondCompare or similar to update the php files.

Hey, I am getting the same error after a database conversion from osc2.1 to oscmax2. Did you get it fixed? If so, how?

Also, I cannot get into my admin with the default username/password or the new one I set it to before converting the database. Any idea how I reset that in the database?

thx,
C

Ok, the admin table was empty when I viewed it in phpmyadmin. I tried simply inserting a value into admin_email_address and admin_password, but no luck. I still can't login. Also, the password is not encrypted...

Any ideas on how to fix the admin login?

If you know the name of the template you used in prior version. Just go into teplates folder and rename any template folder with template name you used before. The error you are getting only because template name in database does not match templates on a file system. good luck

Well, because I am trying to migrate from osC2.1, I was not using a template. There aren't any that I am aware of.

Any idea where I would edit the template in the oscmax2 database?

Default Same problem - solved it though

Hi all.

I have been working on taking a well stocked up and modified OSCMS2 and making it work into an OSCMAX.

I tried using mysqldif but it was not working for me, so after 10 mins of manual editing of the database, I thought Sod this, and downloaded a tool called

SQLYOG Enterprise edition.

It lets you manage all aspects of the database remotely, is far far better and easier than using phpmysqladmin and also does a compare that worked better for me.

Anyway.

I ran the compare, found all the problema reas, did the sql export of the compare, imported it and then imported the actual OSC data into the new OSCMAX.

1st thing I found was I could no longer login, so using this sql tool SQLYOG I simply copied the admin tables from the original OSCMAX database into the NEW OSCMAX, I could now log in.

I then found all the data was there, great I thought, went to the catalog and had the invalid template error you all had.

So, I copied the configurationt ables accross from the (non modified) OSCMAX into the new OSCMAX.

Then I went to catalog, and no error, but this time I had no left or right columns, just the head, center and footer.

So I then copied the table Theme Configuration accross from old OSCMAX to new OSCMAX

Now its working perfect, all customers and products are in place.

Very easy tool

I would advise using sqlyog its easier, see for yourself.

If you want the software, I can provide - msn me on spottedhaggis@hotmail.com or google talk at spottedhaggis

That is your WHOLE problem. You CAN'T just plop in an existing MS2 site into MAX. The databases are very diffenet. Try MySQLDIFF or maybe that SQLYOG Enterprise edition that was mention provides a simular fuction with the compare. That way you can properly UPGRADE the MS2 db to the MAX version.

Default RE: Re: Mysql import old version to new, now illegal templat

Indeed, that's what we're doing. I am upgrading from osc 2.1 to oscmax2, and like you say, the DBs are very different. spottedhaggis is right about sqlyog... it is MUCH easier than phpmyadmin for moving tables around between databases.

However, I found that mysqldiff did a better job with syncing up the DB structures. So I used mysqldiff to update the original osc 2.1 db, and then I use sqlyog to move the tables I need to the oscmax2 db. It's not flawless by any means, but I'm getting there.

spottedhaggis has been a big help. Thanks mate.
