ok, so now I have a fully imported SOC into OSCMAX, all items, customer details, addresses etc are working great.

I have one remaining issue I cannot seem to resolve

In admin, and the database, all prices are correct, in catalog everything is set as 0

I have checked, and double checked, yet I cannot locate the issue.

any ideas anyone, please....

You might try running mysqldiff on your source db and then re-importing the products table after that. I did a db structure migration from an older osc2.1 to oscmax2 with mysqldiff. It worked pretty well, prices are all intact. The only thing it didn't do was set "Taxable Items" correctly, but that was fixed easily enough using sqlyog.

Everything seems perfect bar the price dispay in the main shop.
