Image Linking/Upload

I've been reading the forum and I'm not sure I'm completely getting the images portion of loading the data onto my site.

First, I have about 86k images, all of which are already on my server on a separate drive than where oscmax is located. Depending on which image it is, it could be in one of several directories. By using my source data, I know which directory it is in.

My question is: if my images are already on the server and I'm using EP to import my data, how do I link the images to their current location without them getting copied onto the server as it appears to be doing?

Assuming that you don't have images in an appropriate size, then you should batch convert the images, using for example Irfanview, to resample & copy them to the relevant sub-directories.
On a *nix system there is a method to link to original files but is irrelevant here.
One alternative is to hack the IMAGE_DIR definition, though it's untested (by me) and not recommended.

EP doesn't copy any files; it merely states the name of the base image file, which is then used to reference up to three image sizes.
