Default Dreaded configure.php message on release 2.02 after netfirms platform move

    Glenda Cason Gallery :
    gives this:

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/users/web/b2856/nf.glendacasongallery/public_html/store/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

Using LeapFTP to communicate with server.
I 'm getting too old to keep up with these minor frustrations, may need help before long.

I've looked at all the forum answers but got lost. Cannot believe I have to make major code changes to fix what has been working for a long time.
This program has been running fine for years til netfirms made a "platform change".
Is there a trick to getting the configure.php file permissions change to 644 (I think)?
    I am using version 2.02

Any help would be wonderful (think senior citizen).

Use your FTP (File Transfer Program) LeapFTP to access your server. Browse to the file in question catalog/includes/configure.php - right click - Set Permissions and set it to 644 (as you correctly said) ... you should also check the configure.php file found at catalog/admin/includes/configure.php. Thanks for your I support but I have done exactly this several times with no luck.
My admin folder was renamed long ago with a suffix for better security but it has always worked fine.
I suppose that the platform move at netfirms must have caused it.
However, I seem to remember having to rename, change the premissions, and rename again to the original to make the permission work, even tho it "looked right".
An thing else I can try?
I can try to contact netfirms support but I do not think they will have a clue since nothing was changed.

Having seen a few sites at your chosen cheap service provider, I'm surprised that you haven't had more issues!
It really is something that you should take up with the host. Maybe their fabulous Control Panel will allow you to change permissions.
You could also try 440 or 444 for permissions.
Hosting plans with installation, configuration, contributions, support and maintenance.

Don't know what they did but the migration to a new platform has a few minor problems.
The configure.php files are set to 444
Thanks to all who answered my plight.
