[osCmax V2.0.25] Shared ssl

I have a dedicated linux server through 1and1 running ubuntu. I have made the changes to my configure.php files per the instructions in the wiki and can not seem to get my site to function with a shared ssl installed. Once the ssl is setup i can not login to the admin section and when I add something to my cart and try to check out the items are removed leaving an empty cart. Also users of the site are not able to log in they just get stuck in a loop of login then nothing. I have searched the forums and I have not come up with a solution. If there are some solutions already out their please point me in the right direction.

The obvious thing to do would be to ask your hosting provider - there is nothing different from osCommerce and the osCmax wiki provides more info. on SSL setup. (See comment below.)
Having gone to the expense of a dedicated server, it seems strange to use a shared SSL, when a dedicated one is cheap enough from GD and even a wildcard one is about £70/year.

I will have a dedicated one with the production site. I am using the shared testing. The company I work for is going from a completely offsite unseen unheard provider to an in house IT staff. Our current site has a dedicated ssl which I currently do not have control over and won't until we go live with the new site.
