I only have UK language - so I fill in all the sections, click preview - and i get a blank page

so I thought it might be a firefox error

go to internet explorer, I have exactly the same problem,

however the display when adding the new category is wrong, the html table is all sqashed (see below)

    and this error

    Webpage error details

Try re-uploading the admin files. Looks like something didn't upload correctly.

I have the same problem with the look of the category manager. I can add categories ok however the description text editor is very narrow, the same as in the images in the first post above.

Also there is no way that I can see to hide a category – is that not done on the category configuration page?

I don't have this problem with RC1, so no idea what it could be. If you would PM me an admin login, I would like to have closer look.

Right now I'm testing on my computer. I migrating an osCommerce site to oscMax. (struggling with merging the database at the moment). Been a member here for years but never used oscMax till now. I'm hoping to have a live test site set up later today so will let you know access details when its ready.

michael - I have just replicated this on my machine running IE8 using your demo store ... definitely browser specific as it runs perfectly in Firefox. Even with Compatibility mode running in IE8 it is there!

I simply do not understand why Microsoft can not make a browser that work properly ... it is unbelievable!

Solution: (for now) until we work out what weird coding MS have borked ... use a proper Browser - Firefox, Chrome, Safari, any but IE.

After 5 minutes of fiddling with the IE "developer tool" I can get things to display normally - for some reason IE is NOT expanding tables to accept elements ... On categories we have not defined the table width that contains the jQuery and Microsoft has decided to compress the table to be as small as possible. Why? Who knows this is Microsoft we are talking about ...

It looks like they have not tested their browser with jQuery!! The source has loads of jQuery flags in the html elements!

By defining the width of the cell containing the text to the left of CKEditor you can easily make things work ... however, I have not a clue why IE would be doing this ... it has to be the most useless browser ever!

I also note that IE is running about 2 - 3 times slower than other browsers! I have posted a bugtracker report for this.

    Regards,
    pgmarshall

Unfortunately people still add to the MS coffers and as a consequence blinker themselves to the supplied browser.

Then there's the Lt. Columbo lot, with their Macs.

Ok, I was able to repeat this with IE now too. But, just dragging the bottom right corner of the editor expands it and I can enter categories with no issue, so you should be able to work around.

On the product entry pages, there is no problem form me using IE 8. Everything appears normal and expanded properly.

I am seeing a js error in general.js on the entry pages now. Time to backtrack SVN to find the cause.

    Back to OP:

All I can say is check your error logs for php errors on that page. A blank white page always = php fatal error of some sort.

Something is wrong with either some of the files in your osCmax install (corrupt upload and you should re-upload the files) or something is wrong with your server configuration (php version, php config file, permissions, etc). The error log will have more information.
