I tried searching the forums for anyone asking a similar question and didn't find anything, so here goes...
I work for an e-commerce company that currently operates one website built on osCmax, with a large number of mods installed and configured the way we like them over the past 2 years or so. We own the domain names and hosting space for a few more sites, and would like to build them up and sell different product lines on each one.
Since installing, configuring, and troubleshooting mods is a hugely time-consuming and often frustrating process, my question is this: Would it be possible to download our existing installation of osCmax (mods, database and all), upload it to a new domain, and then just go in and change what needs to be changed in order to make it a unique site (the configuration and admin tables, configuration.php, the categories and products, etc.), allowing us to then focus mainly on the design and layout? Or is there something I'm missing, that would make this idea completely impossible?
If anything like this would be possible, it would save an incredible amount of time-- we wouldn't have to go into each of our new sites and individually install and configure the 2-dozen-plus mods that we've grown accustomed to on our original site. We could just start with each new site already modded the way we want it, and go from there.
Any thoughts/suggestions? Am I insane for even considering this?
