I am thinking of taking a different direction with this whole process....
Is it possible to use oscMax to install just the shopping cart into my existing website?

THis would be a much better solution for me...I can keep teh website that I already have and like...I need the CART, Customer & Product DATABASES.

The question has to be: Why?
You're obviously doing something fundamentally wrong, such as pasting in some arbitrary code into the editor.
Just stick with 'Max 2.0.25 (not the 2.5 beta release!) and follow the simple instructions in the wiki. Don't try to do anything fancy until you know the system. A basic shop can be up and running in easily less than an hour. Many newbies (and oldies) forget that this is not a static website design, like you might do with Dreamweaver (yuk!). A spot of lateral thinking does wonders.
