    Default Upgrading to Beta 3

I have 2.5 beta 2 up and running quite well and have downloaded the beta 3 files but before I go ahead and upload them on top of my site I wanted to know if there are any files I shouldnt overwrite such as configure.php.
Obviously I will backup my site and DB but I wanted to double check to see if there was anything else.

    Thanks,
    Tim

It's one of the main reasons for having configure.php.new and .htaccess.new by default, to save these sort of issues.
With a backup, you will have copies of, for example, the mainpage (home page) content and catalog/includes/languages/english/*_content.php

Just a heads up, if you run a diff on the files you will get thousands of file differences because of 0000546: Change all instances of product name to be "osCmax" - osCmax Bug Tracking System - now these changes affected the headers in many files (it was originally designed to address the footers and a few other places where the name/branding was not consistent) so a diff program may generate far more differences than those that were actually made to "code" in the files.

The package is designed to just be uploaded on top of the previous version. It overwrites all files except for .htaccess or configure.php files. Also will not not touch your custom template directory that you should have created.

Just make a full backup of your beta2 files and database, and upload all files/directories except for the /upgrade and /catalog/install directories.. Remember - Do Not run the installer for the upgrade! The installer is only for NEW installs, not upgrades!

Thank You Michael. That is the answer I was looking for. I didnt make a custom template directory I just made a few changes to the fallback template and will re upload that one after the upgrade.

Caution: Be careful not to overwrite any enhancements to the fallback template - that's why it should be left alone. Post install is the time to start a new template from scratch, with your changes. I have come across numerous sites where 3rd party templates have been bodged by not utilising BTS.
